Climate change
Climate change refers to the long-term cooling or warming of the Earth’s climate. Unlike weather, which varies over the short term, climate is tracked over periods of at least 30 years.
Climate change affects factors such as temperature, precipitation, and ocean currents, leading to ecosystem-wide effects such as changes in atmospheric circulation, rising ocean temperatures and shifts in vegetation zones.
Human activities, primarily the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation, accelerate climate change by releasing greenhouse gases. Global warming has increased the Earth’s average temperature by more than 1°C since the Industrial Revolution, with most of the warming occurring since 1880.
The consequences of climate change include rising sea levels, extreme weather events and threats to agriculture and food security. Adaptation measures, such as investment in emissions-reduction projects, are crucial to mitigating its effects and meeting targets such as those set by the Paris Agreement. Our team is committed to creating a sustainable future for future generations by financing and developing impactful, high-quality climate projects that address the global challenge of climate change.
