Climate action with added social value – promoting sustainable technology
Volkswagen ClimatePartner GmbH develops and finances quality carbon offset projects. Our projects are proven to save CO2 emissions and are certified under recognised standards. They can offset CO2 emissions resulting from the manufacture and sale of products that cannot be reduced any further. All of our projects also provide development aid, create better living conditions and contribute to a healthier environment in their respective regions. In doing so, they support sustainable development with added social value that is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The certificates generated by our carbon offset projects are part of the Volkswagen Group's climate action strategy. The company has committed itself to the goal of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming. By 2050, therefore, the Group aims to achieve balance-sheet CO2 neutrality and, in doing so, to play an active role in shaping the transformation of the automotive industry towards CO2 neutrality. Important pillars include a focus on e-mobility with battery-electric vehicles, a long-term CO2 emission reduction pathway and the compensation of unavoidable residual emissions through carbon offset projects.
