Avoided Unplanned Deforestation

  • SPOT

Theory of change

The Jaguar Amazon REDD+ Project is a project whose proposed activity is to avoid unplanned deforestation of sustainably managed forests in the certified timber concessions ‘Inversiones Forestales Chullachaqui SAC’ and ‘Forestal Otorongo SAC’ in the province of Tahuamanu, in south-eastern Peru.

Climate change mitigation

The project was established in response to increasing threats to the surrounding forests, including not only the project area but also other small forest concessions facing uncontrolled agricultural expansion by new migrants and old settlers.
